SSA's data on its field offices was too widely dispersed and too difficult to access to be of use for the types of ongoing analyses the Agency wished to perform. The Profiling System was created to alleviate this problem by bringing together a variety of different information that (with the exception of demographic data which we purchased from an outside firm) existed elsewhere in SSA and housing them in a single easy-to-use personal computer-based system.
